Confidence Over Comparison: How Make Life Kind Inspired Young Girls in Wigan

Make Life Kind recently delivered an uplifting and empowering workshop as part of the Girls’ Football Big Day Out hosted by Wigan Athletic Community Trust. With the focus on confidence, self-worth, and positive mindset, the session was designed to help girls break free from the pressures of comparison—on the pitch, online, and in everyday life.

Tackling Comparison and Building Self-Belief

In today’s world, many young girls struggle with feeling like they need to "match up" to others—whether that’s teammates or even classmates. During the workshop, the girls courageously revealed the pressures they face, sharing honest and heartfelt stories about comparison and self-doubt.

But by the end of the session, the message was clear: confidence starts from within. The workshop guided them to see that self-belief is more powerful than perfection, and that being authentically themselves is one of the most powerful things.

A Workshop Designed to Empower Girls for Life

This inspiring session wasn’t just about football—it was about future female leaders, athletes, and change-makers. The Make Life Kind team focused on teaching that confidence is the foundation for self-growth, and that real power comes from being proud of who you are, not who you’re trying to impress.

Through interactive discussions and positive affirmation activities, the girls were encouraged to be themselves, embrace their individuality, and walk away feeling empowered for whatever the future may bring.

"Thank you again for you both coming down and helping to give the girls a day to remember, heard amazing feedback, the girls really enjoyed the workshop and discussions, they took so much away from it." - Rachel
